María Natalia Lafourcade Silva, born on February 26, 1984, in Mexico City, Mexico, is a prominent Mexican pop-rock singer and songwriter. Since her debut in 2003, she has established herself as one of the most successful artists in the Latin American pop rock scene. She is known for her work with her band, Natalia y La Forquetina, and her voice is categorized as a lyric soprano. Raised in Coatepec, Veracruz, Mexico, Natalia grew up in a musical family; her father, Gastón Lafourcade, is a Chilean musician, and her mother, María del Carmen Silva Contreras, is a music educator and creator of the Macarsi Method for musical training. Natalia's early musical experiences included singing in a Mariachi group at age 10 and studying various instruments and music disciplines. In 1998, she briefly joined a girl trio called Twist, which disbanded the following year. At 17, she was encouraged to pursue a solo career by Loris Ceroni, who produced her first LP recorded in Italy, featuring her hit "En El 2000." Her debut album earned her a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. In 2005, she released her second album, "Casa," under the name Natalia y La Forquetina, showcasing a more mature sound.
