N.E.R.D, often stylized as N*E*R*D, is a hip-hop/rock group from Virginia, United States. The group was formed in 1999 and was active until 2005, before reuniting in 2008 and continuing to the present. The name N.E.R.D is a backronym that stands for "No-one Ever Really Dies." The members of the group include Chad Hugo, who plays guitar, keys, bass, saxophone, and provides backing vocals; Pharrell Williams, who handles vocals, keys, and drums; and Sheldon 'Shay' Haley, who plays drums and provides backing vocals.
