**New Model Army** is a British rock band formed in 1980 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, with roots in the early punk era. The band was founded by Justin "Slade The Leveller" Sullivan, who serves as the lead vocalist and guitarist, along with bassist Stuart Morrow and drummer Phil Tomkins. The lineup changed shortly after formation, with Rob Waddington replacing Tomkins on drums. This lineup lasted until 1982 when Waddington departed and was succeeded by Robert "Robb" Heaton. Morrow left the band during the "No Rest" tour in 1985 and was replaced by Jason "Moose" Harris. New Model Army's music blends punk, folk, and rock, resonating with a loyal cult following that shared the band's critiques of the Tory government policies of the 1980s. Their debut album featured themes of militancy and nostalgia, exemplified in tracks like "Spirit Of The Falklands" and "A Liberal Education." The band gained early recognition with a number 2 hit on the UK independent chart, "The Price," in 1984, and later achieved wider success with their single "No Rest," which peaked at number 28 on the UK singles chart in 1985. Throughout their career, New Model Army maintained their integrity, often facing backlash for their provocative lyrics and political statements. They left EMI Records in December 1991, moving to Epic Records, where they continued to produce politically charged music
