Newban was a 1970s soul group hailing from White Plains, New York. Originally known as Atlantic Starr, the group released two albums in 1977 titled 'Newban' and 'Newban 2,' which included the track 'Free Your Mind.' The lineup consisted of Sharon Bryant, Jonathan Lewis, Porter Carroll, Joseph Phillips, along with Mark Slifstein, Keith Johnson, Albert Jones, and Gregory Press. They recorded their music in Westwood, California, USA, and changed their name following the release of their debut single.
