Newcleus is an electro/boogie/hip hop group hailing from Brooklyn, New York. The group originated in 1976 when a DJ collective known as Jam-On Productions was formed, consisting of Ben "Cozmo D" Cenac, his best friend David "Dr. Freeze" St. Louis, and Cenac's cousins Monique "Niqu D" Angevin and her brother Pete "Master Quadro" Angevin. In 1981, Cenac expanded Jam-On Productions into a recording group that included his wife Yvette (Lady E), Niqu D, and her future husband Bob "Chilly B" Crafton. Initially named Positive Messenger, the group later adopted the name Newcleus.
