Mark Archer and Chris Peat, hailing from Stafford, England, first collaborated on various releases for the Blue Chip label before forming the duo C&M Connection in 1989. Their initial release, "Another Night," was followed by a name change to Nexus 21. Nexus 21 debuted with the track "(Still) Life Keeps Moving," a vocal techno piece that has since become an early classic. They then released their sole album, "The Rhythm Of Life," which drew strong influences from Detroit techno while incorporating elements of acid house, electro, and breakbeats. After Blue Chip folded, Nexus 21 transitioned to Network Records, while R&S Records released singles "Logical Progression" and "Techno City" from their album. KMS also produced a set of Detroit remixes for "(Still) Life Keeps Moving" featuring contributions from notable artists like Carl Craig, Mark Kinchen, and Kevin Saunderson. Their first releases for Network included licensed versions of "Another Night" and "The Detroit Remixes." The duo also experimented with an alter-ego, releasing the "Overload EP" as Altern 8. They returned to their Nexus 21 identity for the deep techno track "Self Hypnosis," which appeared on the Bio Rhythm compilation. A remix of this track was later included on the "Progressive Logic EP," alongside "Together" and remixes of two tracks from "The Rhythm Of Life." Although a second album was prepared in late 1991,
