Ngwaka Son Systéme is a six-piece band founded in 2022 by Love Lokombe and Bom’s Bomolo, the former members of the acclaimed electronica band “KOKOKO!”. The group continues to explore the futuristic Congolese vision of reimagining electronic dance music by blending traditional and modern sounds. They craft their music using instruments made from household objects, resulting in an energetic mix of techno, rumba, soukous, zagué, and dancehall, all infused with their unique “Kinoise” vibe. Their debut record, “Ibotu Ngenge,” released in 2024 by the renowned Latin-via-Berlin label Eck Echo, features a distinctive production that merges Colombian and Congolese sounds, collaborating with Colombian dub engineer Diego Gomez and recorded by Levy David at Timbela Ba Studio in Kinshasa. The band’s live performances are high-energy events, showcasing a variety of their handcrafted instruments and choreographed routines set to their catchy beats.
