Nikki Sudden was an English singer-songwriter and guitarist, born on July 19, 1956, in London, England, and passed away on March 26, 2006, in New York, USA. He initially formed the band Swell Maps with his brother, releasing four singles and two albums on Rough Trade (UK) between 1977 and their breakup in 1980, all of which reached #1 in the UK Independent Charts. The band is remembered as pioneers of the 'DIY Punk' movement, influencing many US-based bands like Sonic Youth. Following the breakup of Swell Maps, Sudden embarked on a solo career, producing two albums: 'Waiting On Egypt' and 'The Bible Belt.' He later teamed up with Birmingham guitarist Dave Kusworth to form the Jacobites in 1983, releasing two albums, 'Jacobites' and 'Robespierre’s Velvet Basement,' the latter achieving No. 1 in the German Independent Charts. This success led to Sudden relocating to Germany. After the Jacobites disbanded in 1986, Sudden returned to his solo career with Creation Records, releasing five solo albums over the next five years: 'Texas,' 'Dead Men Tell No Tales,' 'Kiss You Kidnapped Charabanc' (with Rowland S. Howard), 'Groove,' and a compilation titled 'Back To The Coast.' In 1990, he recorded 'The Jewel Thief' in Athens, Georgia
