Nikolai Roslavets was a significant Soviet modernist composer born on January 4, 1881, in Surazh, which was part of the Chernigov Governorate in the Russian Empire and is now located in Bryansk Oblast, Russia. His works were officially suppressed after 1930. He passed away on August 23, 1944, in Moscow.
