Nile Rodgers is an influential guitarist, songwriter, and producer, born on September 19, 1952, in New York City. He was a leading figure in the disco scene during the late 1970s and recorded as part of a band, producing many of the most popular and memorable disco hits of the 1970s and 1980s. Rodgers has produced numerous artists and is credited as either an artist, producer, or writer for songs that have collectively sold over 100 million records. Additionally, he is notable for being the first African-American to own a national music distribution company, which specializes in the distribution of video game soundtracks.
