Noblesse Oblige is a French-Caribbean duo consisting of performer Valerie Renay and German producer Sebastian Lee Philipp. They gained recognition in London’s electro/indie club scene before releasing their debut full-length album, ‘Privilege Entails Responsibility,’ in 2006, which quickly became a classic, supported by notable DJs like Erol Alkan and Mark Moore. In 2008, the duo relocated to Berlin, where they began working on their second album, ‘In Exile.’ This album received funding from the Federal Ministry of Culture and Media and was well-received by the German press, earning several ‘Record of the Month’ accolades and the Russian Steppenwolf Music Prize. Their fascination with the occult, inspired by Robert Pacitti’s tarot project at the London Spill Festival 2009, led them to research the works of Aleister Crowley and artists such as Kenneth Anger and Donald Cammell. This exploration culminated in their third album, ‘Malady,’ released in 2010, along with a series of international “voodoo spectacular” concerts. Noblesse Oblige has shared the stage with acts like The Irrepressibles, The Dresden Dolls, IAMX, Lydia Lunch, and Ann Clark, performing over 300 concerts across Europe, Russia, and South America, including major festivals and various cultural events. Outside of their music, Valerie is an accomplished performer and theatre director, while Sebastian composes radio plays for the German National
