Nomad is a house music duo from England, consisting of Damon Rochefort, Steve McCutcheon, and Sharon D. Clarke. The name "Nomad" is derived from Damon spelled backward. They achieved significant success in the 1990s, hitting #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and #2 in the UK Singles Chart with their track "(I Wanna Give You) Devotion," credited as 'Nomad featuring MC Mikee Freedom.' Damon Rochefort began his career as a columnist for the Black music trade publication 'Blues & Soul' before moving on to 'Smash Hits' and The Sun’s Bizarre column at just 18 years old. After his success with Nomad, he transitioned into writing and producing for various artists, including Elton John, Ru Paul, Bad Boys Inc., Michelle Gayle, and Kim Wilde. Rochefort also ventured into television, writing for the sitcom 'Birds Of A Feather' and creating original shows such as 'Boyz R Us' for the BBC, which focused on a boy band and its manipulative manager, and 'The Bad Old Days,' centered around a turn-of-the-century music hall. In addition to his writing, Rochefort hosted ITV’s dance show BPM for two years and later created and presented his own live chat show, 'Damon Rochefort Tonight,' on BBC Wales, which received awards.
