Norman Greenbaum is an American singer-songwriter born on November 20, 1942, in Malden, Massachusetts, USA. He is best known for his iconic song "Spirit In The Sky," released in 1969, which established him as one of the most famous and best-selling one-hit wonders of all time. Prior to his solo career, Greenbaum was the leader and composer for Dr. West's Medicine Show And Junk Band, which gained recognition for the novelty hit "The Eggplant That Ate Chicago."
