Sarah Lipstate, known by her stage name Noveller, is a Los Angeles-based guitarist and filmmaker. She has been a part of notable projects such as Rhys Chatham’s Guitar Army and Glenn Branca’s 100 guitar ensemble. Lipstate joined the Brooklyn art-rock band Parts & Labor in March 2008, contributing to their acclaimed album "Receivers" before leaving in July 2009. As Noveller, she has toured with bands like Xiu Xiu, the Jesus Lizard, Man Forever, and Emeralds. Currently, she is collaborating with Carla Bozulich on an improvised duo release for No Fun Productions. Lipstate has performed at various prestigious venues and festivals, including the Abrons Arts Center in Manhattan and the Un Son Par Là festival in France. She participated in the revival of “Drastic-Classicism” at The Kitchen in NYC and performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Rhys Chatham’s minimalist punk classic “Guitar Trio.” In August 2009, she was part of “A Crimson Grail,” performing with 199 other guitarists at Lincoln Center. She debuted a hand-painted 16mm film loop during a live set at the X Initiative's rooftop in October 2009 and collaborated with choreographer Nancy Garcia in November of the same year. Lipstate's debut LP, "Paint on the Shadows," was released by No Fun Productions in April 2009, followed by her full-length CD "Red Rainbows"
