NST Cophies was an Ivorian songwriter born on November 11, 1955, in Dimbokro, Ivory Coast. He passed away on March 8, 2020, in New York, United States. Cophies was known for creating the musical style "Zôgôda - Le Zopio Dance." He founded his first band with Desire Gadeau in 1968, followed by another group called The Husband Mackers in 1970. In 1976, he moved to France to perform with Bozambo, a new jazz-rock band. Over the next few years, he played with renowned bands such as N'Bamina and Osibisa, as well as with numerous artists. In 1980, NST Cophie released his first solo album.
