Ntogn is a conceptual electro-acoustic project created by Michel, the founder of Hypnus Records and a sound design graduate from Sweden, born in 1988. The project embodies a fascination with magic, utilizing both contemporary and classic sound design techniques to produce a unique auditory experience. Resident Advisor's William Lynch has described Ntogn's sound as "fierce, artistic techno that sounds like little else out there," with a discography that spans from intense techno to dark ambient explorations. After spending nearly three years in isolation immersed in literature on history, philosophy, occultism, and epic fairy tales, Michel found an outlet for his developed inner world through music in 2013. By incorporating field recordings and samples of his voice and surroundings, he cultivated an organic sound influenced by the emerging hypnotic deep techno scene. All of Ntogn's music is released on his own label, Tome, to maintain artistic freedom and originality. Following two years of sound design studies and a newfound passion for modular synthesis, Michel has plans for more music, including a third full-length album set to release after the summer this year. In the meantime, Ntogn's distinctive sound can be experienced live at clubs and festivals worldwide, including collaborative performances with fellow Hypnus artist Birds ov Paradise.
