Ntombi Ndaba was a notable female star in the 1980s, known for her collaboration with manager and producer "Rubber" At Khoza and her backing band, Survival. In 1985, she released two self-written maxi singles, "I Can't Let Him Go" and "Think More About Me," produced by Clive Risko and engineered by Jan Smit on Reamusic's Ream label. By 1987, she was at CCP Records, where she released the album "What Is It With Me (Yini Ngami)," produced and arranged by Rubber Khoza, with all tracks self-written and engineered by Fab Grosso on CCP's Hi-Trax label. Another significant hit was "Sweet Love" from her self-written album of the same name, recorded at Blue Tree Studios and released on the CCP label. In 1989, her backing band, Survival, released their own album titled "The Big Mechanics" on the Anneko label. This label also featured Sinah Dombolo and The Derricans, who released their album "Mahlalela" in 1989 under the management of Derrick Phuluwa.
