Nuyorican Soul is the musical project of dance production team Masters at Work, consisting of Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez and Lil' Louis Vega. In 1996, they released an EP under the Nuyorican Soul name, followed by a full-length album in 1997. This project, similar to Guru's jazz-rap fusion venture Jazzmatazz, brought together jazz legends and contemporary talents, celebrating a blend of jazz, R&B, and dance, with many tracks incorporating Latin styles that reflect the heritage of Gonzalez and Vega.
