Nyam Nyam, hailing from Hull, released their self-produced and self-financed single "When We Can't Make Laughter Stay" in 1981. The band caught the attention of New Order's Peter Hook, who discovered their single at Cargo Studios and facilitated a recording of demos for Factory Records. They later signed with 4AD and its affiliate, Situation 2. Factory Benelux released Hook's mix of their track "Fate" as a 12" single. Under Situation 2, Nyam Nyam released their album "Hope of Heaven" and an EP titled "The Architect" before disbanding. Vocalist Paul Trynka subsequently became the editor of the music magazine Mojo. In 2012, a new track called "Doubt" was recorded for the CD reissue of "Hope of Heaven."
