Obituary is a death metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1985. Originally known by a different name, they changed the spelling before adopting the name Obituary shortly before the release of their first album in 1989. The band disbanded in 1997, although a live album was released a year later. In 2005, Obituary reformed and has since continued to tour and release new material.
