Odilio González, known as El Jibarito de Lares, is a popular Puerto Rican singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He was born on March 5, 1937, in Piletas, Lares, Puerto Rico. González recorded his first single, "El vellón pegao/Ni de madera son buenas," in 1956, followed by his first LP, "Cantando en el campo," released on Marvela in 1957. In 1958, he moved to New York with Pedro "Piquito" Marcano and eventually became a star in the Caribbean and Mexico.
