Ofo the Black Company, originally formed in Nigeria, gained recognition in the 1970s when discovered by Decca's A&R man, David Bennett. The band was part of the vibrant student music scene in Lagos and is best known for their track "Allah Wakbarr," recorded in 1972. Following the song's release in the UK, they were invited to perform in Berlin before continuing their journey to the UK. In 1975, they changed their name to Ofo The Rock Company and returned to Lagos. The band comprised members Larry Ifedioranma (Jr.) on drums, percussion, and vocals; Kingsley Obiche on congas; Dele Olaseinde on keyboards; and Toks Shotade on guitar. Original members included Degiga Ifediora, Ifi Jerry, Popo Kamson, Benna Kemfa, and Sonny Makoko.
