Oh-OK was an American musical group formed in 1981 in Athens, Georgia. The band consisted of singer/lyricist Linda Hopper, bassist/vocalist/lyricist Lynda Stipe, and drummer David Pierce. They began practicing together at parties within the college community during the spring of 1981. Their first significant performance opportunity arose when Michael Stipe, the brother of Lynda Stipe and a member of R.E.M., needed a backing band for a show at the 40 Watt Club. Later members included drummer David McNair and guitarist Matthew Sweet.
