Oorutaichi, born in 1979 and based in Osaka, began his musical journey in 1999, drawing inspiration from artists like The Residents and The Doors. He initially compiled his recordings into a cassette album titled "?" and showcased his multi-tracked improvisations, performed entirely by himself. His unique style combines free-wheeling melodies and improvisational singing in a personal language, influenced by the "pathos" of dancehall reggae, layered over programmed tracks. His debut album, "Yori Yoyo," was released in 2003, followed by "Drifting my folklore" in 2007. That same year, he released the "MISEN Gymnastics EP" through Bearfunk in the U.K. Oorutaichi has remixed tracks for various artists, including Shugo Tokumaru and I am Robot and Proud. He also leads the band Urichipangoon as the singer and composer and participates in numerous collaborations and sessions with other musicians. Beyond the music scene, he has composed music for theater and collaborated with contemporary dancer Masako Yasumoto. Oorutaichi has performed internationally, including opening for Juana Molina in Philadelphia during her 2009 U.S. tour and touring Europe later that year. His U.S. tour also featured a performance at SXSW in Texas, and in May 2010, he took part in the Biennale of Sydney. Oorutaichi continues to explore music that transcends borders and seeks
