L'Orchestre African Fiesta was created in 1963 by Rochereau and Dr. Nico, who decided to launch their own label. In 1965, tensions between Rochereau and Nico led to a split, with Rochereau renaming the band "Orchestre African Fiesta 1966" and later changing the name again. He also established a new label called Éditions Flash - Rochereau Chante. Meanwhile, Dr. Nico performed under the moniker and created his own label through a French subsidiary. This update serves to dissociate the original Orchestre African Fiesta (1963-1965) from their subsequent names after 1965.
