Orchestre Bantous de la Capitale, formed in August 1959 by former musicians from various bands, emerged as one of the most renowned Congolese rumba bands in the early 1960s. The group featured several key members, including Édouard Nganga, also known as "Célio," who served as a vocalist and was a founder member from 1959 to 1962, 1964 to 1972, and 1979 to 1990. Another founding member, Daniel "Essou" Loubelo, contributed as a vocalist and played bass guitar from 1959 to 1962. The ensemble included a range of talented musicians such as a flutist and saxophonist who was active from 1959 to 1969 and again from 1972 onward, as well as various instrumentalists on drums, lead guitar, and rhythm guitar, all of whom were part of the original lineup from 1959 to 1961. Over the years, the band saw the addition of new members, including lead guitarists and vocalists, who joined in the 1960s.
