Orchestre Régional de Kayes is a Malian orchestra that was established after the country's independence in 1960. Its formation aimed to revitalize the local cultures of the Mand and Kasso regions, transforming traditional themes into modern songs. Under the guidance of its bandleader, the orchestra became one of Mali's finest. In the early 1970s, it evolved into a new entity named after the late great singer Sidi Yassa. In 1977, they released an eponymous LP as part of a legendary collection.
