Orchestre Regional de Kayes is a prominent orchestra from Mali, established after the country's independence in 1960. Its formation aimed to revive local cultures from the Mand and Kasso regions and transform traditional themes into modern songs. Under the guidance of its bandleader, the orchestra developed into one of Mali's finest musical ensembles. In the early 1970s, it evolved into a new formation named after the late great singer Sidi Yassa. In 1977, the orchestra released an eponymous LP as part of a legendary collection.
