**Bio: Orquesta De La Luz** Orquesta De La Luz, meaning "Orchestra Of The Light" in Spanish, is a unique Japanese Salsa band formed in Tokyo in 1984. They began performing at clubs such as the Shibuya Crocodile and Roppongi Pit Inn. The lead singer, Nora, brought a demo tape to New York City, which led to their first performance there in 1989. This tour was successful, enabling the band to release their debut self-titled album in Japan and the US in 1990. The album received the Gold Disc Award and topped the Billboard Latin Salsa Chart for 11 consecutive weeks. The band has toured 22 countries, including the USA, South Central America, and Europe, and has released numerous albums. They received the Outstanding Award at the Japan Record Award in 1991 and 1993, the United Nations Peace Medal Award in 1993, performed at the NHK Kohaku Utagassen in 1993, and were nominated for a Grammy Award for 'Tropical Latin Album' in 1995. In 1997, Orquesta De La Luz dissolved to focus on solo activities but reunited for the charity event World Peace Music Festival in 2002. The positive response to this event led to their reformation the following year.
