**Bio: Orquesta Novel** Orquesta Novel is a Cuban-type charanga band that was formed in New York in 1961. Led by an Afro-Cuban pianist, arranger, composer, and vocalist, the band covers a variety of styles including boleros, cha cha chas, disco, boogaloo, jazz-funk, Latin jazz, mambo, salsa, and son montuno. Their sound is characterized by the prominent use of flute and violins, and they are also known as Orchestra, Charanga, or Orquesta Tipica Novel. The band made their debut with the album "Do The Boogaloo" around 1967 on Fonseca Records, followed by "Se Colo La Novel" in 1973. They continued to release albums such as "Super Típica" (1974), "Sabrosa Novel" (1975), "Tipicante" (1975), and "With A Touch Of Brass" (1975), the latter featuring trumpeter Alfredo 'Chocolate' Armenteros and brass arrangements by Barry Rogers. A compilation of their best material was released as "Lo Mejor de Típica Novel" in 1978. Initially known as Tipica Novel, they were renamed Orquesta Novel when they moved to Fania Records, producing albums including "Salsamania" (1976) with Rogers on trombone and brass arrangements by Mark Weinstein, and "Salud, Dinero y Amor" (1978) featuring
