Oscar Brown, Jr. was an American singer, songwriter, playwright, poet, actor, and civil rights activist, born on October 10, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away on May 29, 2005, in his hometown of Chicago. Brown was married to the sister of actress Judy Pace and was the father of several children, including one known as BoBo and Africa Pace Brown. He also ran for office in the Illinois state legislature and U.S. Congress, though he was unsuccessful in both campaigns. His father, Oscar Brown Sr. (December 22, 1895 - October 1, 1990), was a prominent community activist, lawyer, and businessman in Chicago.
