Oscar Brown Jr. was an American singer, songwriter, playwright, poet, actor, and civil rights activist, born on October 10, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away on May 29, 2005, in the same city. Brown was married to the sister of actress Judy Pace and was the father of several children, including one known as BoBo and Africa Pace Brown. He was politically active, having run for office in the Illinois state legislature and U.S. Congress, though he was unsuccessful in both endeavors. His father, Oscar Brown Sr. (December 22, 1895 - October 1, 1990), was a notable community activist, lawyer, and businessman in Chicago.
