Oscar Golden, born Óscar Isaac Goldemberg Jiménez in 1942 in Calarcá, Quindío, was a prominent figure in Colombia's Nueva Ola music movement. He captivated teenagers in the 1960s with his performances of songs like "Zapatos pom pom," "Boca de chicle," and "Embriágame." Later, he transitioned into ballads with hits such as "El romance del cacique y la cautiva" and "Quién entiende a esa mujer." From a young age, Golden showcased his singing talent and passion for contemporary music. Encouraged by his friend Harold Orozco, also a Nueva Ola representative, he pursued a music career after leaving medical school. He gained recognition by winning a contest at Nueva Granada radio station, leading to his first recordings with Estudio 15, a label founded by his mentor Alfonso Lizarazo. Oscar Golden passed away in 2008, leaving a lasting legacy in the Nueva Ola and ballad genres.
