Östro 430 was founded in December 1979 in Düsseldorf, West Germany, and is recognized as the first all-female punk band from the city. The original lineup consisted of Olivia Casali on bass, Bettina Flörchinger on electric piano, Marita Welling on drums and vocals, and Martina Weith on vocals. They made their first public appearance at the "Schmier Festival" on May 3, 1980, at the “Okie Dokie” in Neuss. Although often mislabelled as part of NDW (Neue Deutsche Welle) or New Wave, Östro 430 was a punk band. The original lineup included Monika Kellermann, who left the band in 1981, after which Birgit Köster joined. In 1983, Ralf Küpping became a member of the band.
