Otis Clay was a renowned soul singer and songwriter, born on February 11, 1942, in Waxhaw, Mississippi, U.S.A. He passed away on January 8, 2016, in Chicago, Illinois. Clay moved to Chicago to pursue his music career, beginning by singing in gospel groups. In 1965, he was signed to a record label, and after it folded, he transitioned to another label in 1968 and then to a third in 1971. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he continued to record for various labels. In 2013, he was honored as one of the inductees to the Blues Hall of Fame.
