Otis Redding was an American soul singer, songwriter, producer, and arranger, born on September 9, 1941, in Dawson, Georgia, USA. He passed away on December 10, 1967, near Madison, Wisconsin, USA, in a plane crash. Redding was married from 1961 until his death and was the father of Otis III, Dexter, Demetria, and Karla. He was an influential figure in 60s American popular music and is considered a seminal artist of Soul and R&B. In 1965, he co-founded a publishing entity. Among his best-known compositions are the hits "Respect" and "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 as a Performer and into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1994.
