Ottilie Patterson was a Northern Irish blues and jazz singer, born on January 31, 1932, in Comber, County Down, Northern Ireland. She passed away on June 20, 2011, in Ayr, Ayrshire and Arran, Scotland. Patterson was married to a trombonist and bandleader from 1959 until their divorce in 1983. She began her musical journey as a classical pianist at the age of 11, but she never received formal training as a singer. Patterson gained recognition for her performances with a band in the late 1950s and early 1960s. However, in 1963, she began experiencing throat problems and officially retired from the band in 1973. During her career, she also recorded some non-jazz blues material and released a solo LP titled "3000 Years with Ottilie" in 1969.
