overdriven dreams is the moniker of Uroš Kostić, an ambient composer from Niš, Serbia. After years of exploring the potential of his main instrument and various devices through his work with several bands, particularly the post-rock band There., he began to incorporate those sounds into his solo work. His music aims to bring the infinite sound fields of phantasmagoric dreams to life, primarily through experimentation in post-minimalism, drone, and ambient genres. He utilizes 4-track cassette tape loops, field recordings, and reel-to-reel tape loops, creating pieces characterized by deep ostinato lines and lush textures enriched with string instruments, pianos, and choirs. His album "symphony // of // murmurings," released by the Netherlands label Slow Tone Collages, features collaboration with renowned experimental artist Lawrence English as a mastering engineer. The second album, "four trembles on an imagined occasion," set to release in April 2024, results from an intensive exploration of sound, employing four-channel cassette loops, a sine wave generator, and various instruments with contact microphones to create a complex tapestry of sound textures and layers. In a short time, overdriven dreams has established himself as one of the most active ambient musicians in the Balkan region, performing across Europe alongside notable artists such as Pan-American (ex-Labradford), Alison Cotton, and Wojciech Rusin.
