The Oxford Circle was a North Californian band based in Davis, near Sacramento, that gained a reputation for their live performances around San Francisco during the mid-1960s. The band was active from 1964 to 1967 and released just one single on a short-lived independent label. Following the band's disbandment, the drummer formed another group in 1967, while the guitarist and vocalist, along with another guitarist, also formed a band that same year. After the group KAK disbanded following the release of their only album in early 1969, Gary Lee Yoder joined Blue Cheer for two years, replacing a member who had been dismissed for criticizing the band's drug use. By the time Yoder joined, Blue Cheer had shifted from their original acid rock style to a more commercial hard rock/prog rock sound. Yoder left Blue Cheer in 1971 and subsequently withdrew from public life. He passed away in 2021. Dehner Patten continues to perform with a local blues/rock band called One-Sheet in Beaverton, Oregon, while Paul Whaley died in Germany in 2019.
