P1/E is an open project known for its unique approach, featuring changing participants. The band gained recognition with the release of their only 7" single, "49 Second Romance / Dependence," in 1980 in Berlin. The first track, particularly, has remained a memorable hit in the wave scene, especially in Germany, and continues to energize dance floors among minimal-electro enthusiasts. Later that year, P1/E contributed tracks to the Monogam and Licht & Schatten compilations. After disbanding in 1981, members went on to join notable groups such as Einstürzende Neubauten, EXKURS, and Tennis Boy Blues. In 1989, Schäumer produced two tracks for Acid Generation released by Big Sex Records. P1/E made a comeback in 2020 with new tracks.
