Pablo Lubadika, known as "Porthos," began his musical career as a guitarist in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Seeking greater success, he moved to Lomé, Togo, and later to Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, where he became a member of a local group. During his time with that group, Porthos relocated to Paris, where he skillfully adapted the Soukous style of the Congos to the new recording techniques and the presence of Kinshasa expatriates available in the city.
