Palyrria is a band formed in 1999, born from a desire for experimentation in music. They have developed a unique style that blends western electronica with traditional Mediterranean music, coining the term "world-electro" to describe their sound, which is neither strictly electronic nor ethnic. The band members are deeply fascinated by traditional music, with some having collaborated with renowned traditional musicians. Living in Greece has influenced their appreciation of music that dates back centuries, reflecting ancient ceremonies filled with musical expression. Palyrria draws parallels between these historical events and the rave culture of the early nineties, finding striking similarities that inspire their dynamic musical context. Their music features Aeolian scales, pentatonic melodies, and historical instruments, combined with pumping bass lines, techno grooves, and modern production techniques. Palyrria aims to create music that transcends time, merging ancient and futuristic elements for a unique listening experience.
