Pan Sonic, originally known as Panasonic from 1993 until 1998, was an internationally renowned Finnish electronic music project consisting of members who began releasing music in 1994 on the experimental techno label of their friend. During their first tour outside of Finland in London, they secured a record deal with a sub-label. Their first release on Blast First, "Vakio," came out in 1995 and received international recognition. In 1996, Sami Salo left Pan Sonic, and the project continued as a duo until disbanding in 2009. The pair briefly reformed in 2015 to create the soundtrack for the documentary film Atomin Paluu ("Return of the Atom").
