Pancho Alonso was a Cuban singer and bandleader born in Santiago de Cuba in 1928. He is credited with creating the musical form known as "Pilón." In 1952, he founded a musical group called "Los Modernistas de Pacho." The group later changed its name upon moving to Havana.
