The Parachute Club was a Canadian band formed in Toronto in 1982, originating from several members of a previous band. The lineup included Lorraine Segato on vocals and guitar, Lauri Conger on keyboards and vocals, Billy Bryans on drums, Margo Davidson on saxophone and vocals, Julie Masi on percussion and vocals, Steve Webster on bass, and Dave Gray on guitar. Their debut album, produced by Daniel Lanois, featured the hit song "Rise Up," which won a Juno Award for Single of the Year. After Steve Webster left to join Billy Idol, Keir Brownstone took his place for their second album, *At the Feet of the Moon*, released in 1985 and produced by Michael Beinhorn. The band won a Juno Award for Group of the Year that same year. In 1986, they released their third album, *Small Victories*, which included "Love is Fire," a duet featuring Segato and John Oates of Hall & Oates, who also produced the single. In 1987, the band composed and performed four songs for the Canadian and U.S. versions of the anime series *The Wonderful Wizard of Oz*. After releasing a final non-album single, "Big Big World," in 1987, the members parted ways in 1989.
