Parlet is a spinoff P-Funk group formed in 1978 by veteran backing vocalists. The group was signed to Casablanca Records, which launched a promotional campaign for their first record. However, Debbie had to leave the group due to health reasons, and she was replaced by another vocalist. Parlet opened for a major act on tour for a while. In 1979, Mallia Franklin departed to help form another group with her then-husband and bassist. A replacement joined Parlet halfway through the recording of their second album, "Invasion of the Booty Snatchers," released in 1979. The group released one final album, "Play Me or Trade Me," in 1980.
