Patricio Castillo, born in 1946 in Cautín, Chile, is a talented guitarist and singer known for his contributions to Chilean folk music. He was a member of a prominent folk music group from 1966 to 1971, returning to the group in 1992. Castillo studied classical guitar at the National Conservatorium of Music and pursued humanities with a focus on philosophy at the University of Chile, while also furthering his studies in classical music and music history. From 1966 to 1968, he was part of the group but left to assist Victor Jara with his solo albums. He also collaborated with Amerindios, which was founded by former members of Quilapayún. During the 1980s, he worked sporadically with various artists. In 1992, Castillo rejoined Quilapayún, taking on the roles of electric bass player and quena player, collaborating with other musicians in the ensemble. During a crisis within the group, he remained active with the Paris ensemble, led by key figures in the music scene.
