**Pat Lewis: A Soulful Journey** Pat Lewis, born Patsy Lewis on October 23, 1947, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, was a prominent soul and gospel singer known for her significant contributions to the northern soul scene. She passed away on September 2, 2024. In 1951, her family relocated to Detroit, Michigan, where she attended Central High School. It was during this time that Pat's passion for music blossomed, as she performed in glee clubs, talent shows, and church choirs. In the early 1960s, Pat, alongside her sister Diane Lewis, formed a group with sisters Betty and Jackie Winston. They signed with Golden World Records, managed by Ed Wingate and Joanne Bratton, and recorded several tracks, including “Deep Freeze” and “Romeo and Juliet” with The Reflections. Seeking to pursue her dream as a solo artist, Pat changed her name to Pat Lewis and recorded her first single, “Can’t Shake It Loose.” She also provided background vocals for various artists, including Motown's The Andantes. In 1966, after Golden World was sold to Motown, Pat signed with Solid Hit Bound Records, where she recorded several singles. During this time, she performed with Aretha Franklin as one of her background singers and continued to arrange and sing background vocals for various projects. In 1969, Pat was hired by Isaac Hayes to arrange and record background vocals for his album
