Paul Hardcastle, born on December 10, 1957, in Kensington, is a British multi-instrumentalist, composer, lyricist, music producer, and radio presenter. He initially found success on the underground dance scene in the early 1980s before breaking into the mainstream with his hit single "19," which spent five weeks at number one in the UK. In the latter half of the 1980s, Hardcastle specialized in TV soundtrack work and began recording mainly under a pseudonym due to contractual restrictions that prevented him from releasing music under his own name. Under this pseudonym, he released a 12" single in 1990 that reached #4 on Billboard's 12" sales chart and became a massive hit across Europe. He also achieved significant sales with another project under the name LFO. In 1997, Hardcastle contributed to the movie "Spice World" and later worked as a radio presenter in the US. Over his career, he has sold over 20 million records worldwide. Hardcastle is married to his teenage sweetheart, Dolores Hardcastle (born Dolore Baker), and they have three children, including Richard Hardcastle. His younger sister provided backing vocals for the song "Fooling Yourself."
