Paul Gayten was an American rhythm and blues bandleader, pianist, record company executive, producer, and songwriter, born on January 29, 1920, in Kentwood, Louisiana. He passed away on March 26, 1991, in Los Angeles, California, due to bleeding ulcers. Gayten was the leader of one of the most popular orchestras in New Orleans during the 1940s and had a diverse career in the music industry, serving as a producer, label owner, and overseeing the West Coast operation of Chess Records. He was also the nephew of an unspecified individual.
